Bored of directors

God, I'm bored. I'm so bored, I'm almost too lazy to experience boredom, you know? Ever get like that? It feels like it's been weeks since I took joy in anything I've done and I sit here staring blankly at whatever the Internet decides to tube my way, all the while observing half-heartedly how boring it all is. I mean, what's the point? In ANY of ( Read more... )

Hey,

This procedure is called "plastination" and it is quite astonishing how intact these dead people are. There were even bodies that consisted solely of arteries and veins, without their bones and muscles, floating in some kind of liquid. They looked like someone knitted them out of red yarn.

I totally want to see this exhibit. Dang Pacific and Atlantic Oceans!!

I'd totally want my body to be plasticized for future generations, so longs as it could be done with me naked and between Seann William Scott and James Marsden's preserved bodies too *g*

One half-developed fetus was missing a neck and the top of it's skull. It looked like a white frog with arms. It was the size of...well, a frog.

-That's called Anencephaly. The brain is not formed fully, and the cranium is absent. You're welcome. And yes, there are icky photos of it online *g*

Some of the gross things in bottles you describe make me long to redecorate my house with them (I'd *live* in the Mutter Museum if I could!!)

Why? WHY do I always fall for your false "warnings"? You knew damn well I would look that up! *burns retinas*

Aw, much love to our extra biggie-sized aquatic mammals. I've never seen one in real life, but I imagine it would be an awesome sight to be greeted by 100 feet of zen.

Hey,

Why? WHY do I always fall for your false "warnings"?

-because my false warnings are actually always real warnings to double bluff people?! Evil, remember?!!

You knew damn well I would look that up! *burns retinas*

You can also do a search for the related birth anomalies Cyclopia and Sirenomelia...

-I've seen a Humpback Whale in RL, from a distance of about 150 feet. This was part of my cunning plan to get into the pants of a gorgeous crush about 6 years back, by taking him on a date on a Whale Watching boat- I saw numerous frolicking cetaceans from a respectful distance, but my crush Jason spent the entire trip chucking up over the side of the boat. Foiled again!

I remember when that exhibit came here to Chicago! The lines were always ridiculous so I never went. Towards the end, they started having it open 24 hours, and my mother's wonderful idea for a family outing? Going to see dead bodies at 1 in the morning. My dad vetoed this, because he wanted to sleep. My anatomy teacher considered taking us to it as a field trip, then decided the paperwork of "I give permission for my son/daughter to see dead people" would be too much of a hassle.

They totally let at least the photojournalists take pictures of it; I remember the newspaper having a long article with lots of images. There was one of a dead dude riding a dead muscley horse--that looked totally cool.

Thank you for the link! See what I mean when I said the arteries made the corpses look like they were knitted out of red yarn? This particular exhibit didn't have animals, but from what I understand, it was one of the few with a fetus section. So, bonus.

Hey, thanks for the invite. What does one do at Uppercrust, anyway? Sit around looking snootily down on people? Because I'm totally good at that.
