christmas and other things

i know, i'm nearly a week late on this update, but it was a busy time. so, christmas came and went without any major happenings. i had a total of 5 days off for christmas, the friday before, the day of and the day after (all with pay! yeah!) anywho, my cousin from vegas and her mom (my aunt) from hawaii, and some other family friends came in for christmas. we went shopping in alpine at the outlet center on friday, had sushi for lunch and then came home and died. nothing really exciting over the weekend. christmas day, at 7am, kev comes bounding into the room and jumps on the bed, bouncing around as he chants "wake up, wake up, it's christmas!" yes, liz and i were so pleased to be awoken as such. liz growled at him, i ignored him, and rolled over and went back to sleep until my alarm went off at 7:30am. it was nice christmas morning in our house. we commissioned a good friend of ours to make a nice war coat for liz, and it came out absolutely beautiful! now liz finally has something of her own to wear when it's cold at war. it's a beautiful tapestry coat with faux suede as the liner and a layer of thin vinyl between the layers to keep the coat water proof. unfortunately, kev had guessed his 2 presents under the tree by christmas morning, but what he didn't know is that the tuesday before christmas we had a raffle at our adopt-a-family luncheon and i won, with my 1 ticket in the entire raffle, a 30GB video iPod. our friend rach had bought kev an iTunes gift card for it, and when she came over wednesday to exchange gifts with us cause she'd be out of town on christmas, we told kev he couldn't open hers until christmas, cause it went along with one of our presents for him already under the tree. so, we let him open our stuff (the collector set of darth tater and spud trooper) and a bumble and then we let him open rach's gift, he got all excited thinking the card was to restart his collection of music that we'd lost when we had to wipe our computer a few weeks ago. so i look at him and say, as liz is handing him the wrapped iPod, "then i guess you won't need it for this" he opened the iPod and was absolutely speechless. i later found out that the iPod i'd won was the one that's floating around out there for about $250. so, anywho, we had brunch and presents with kev's family and then from there we came home, got redressed and went to meet my family (my out of town relatives as well) at the marriott on coronado for their christmas buffet. it was an okay buffet, but the mimosa's flowed freely! then after that we went down to ocean beach to try and go out on the pier to throw flowers for my mom (she was a christmas baby) but they'd shut the pier down due to a really high tide, so instead we went out on the rocks right there. i didn't actually make it all the way out to the water, i just didn't have the traction on my shoes, but like i told liz as we stood back, i'd already cried for her on christmas eve. i'd finally gotten to see The Family Stone and the mom out of it totally reminded me of my mom, especially the end, and as kev and i were driving to pick up liz from work i started to cry cause i realized there'd be no one to call in the morning to wish a happy birthday and merry christmas to. kev has started me thinking that from now on we not buy my brothers anything for christmas anymore cause last year they didn't send us anything while we were in kansas and i didn't get anything from them this year. i know i at least sent a card last year, telling them i'd be home soon and this year i bought them all movie passes (i get them at a discount from work). so, such is our lives right now, as i fastforward to this weekend. tomorrow is liz's birthday. our original plans were to go to thornton's irish pub & grill in el cajon and have dinner before our friend's band, dannicus live, plays for their big new year's eve bash there, but unfortunately money's tight. kev's still not working and now our friend scott's here, he just moved out here from kansas the first of week december and he's not working either so that'd be 4 people to pay for for dinner and thornton's isn't cheap. the food is amazing and well worth it, but not enough to strap us until next pay day. so instead, i came up with the ingenious idea to throw liz, and our friend rach who's birthday happens to be tomorrow as well, a surprise party, cheesy high school style. so tomorrow we will have pizza, soda and streamers and some of our friends over waiting for them both to get here at about 4:30pm so we can surprise them. hopefully that'll make up for the fact that last year liz had to give up her birthday dinner out so we could take our friend scott out to dinner before we left kansas. so, there you have it, what's been going on in our lives. as for the baby track for us, i've cycled for the past 2 months, consecutively, right on schedule with liz. so here's hoping it keeps going, and if i finally don't have one it's because i'm pregnant. i'm hoping that the fact that i've tried not stressing as much as i used to, and not let little shit worry me as much, and basically, all around easing up, that it will allow my body to resync itself. so here's hoping!
so, that's what's been goin' on...

my mom
