1. even good, beautiful stars are infested by rats, if you take the palindrome literally. 2. the fact you can change a word that symbolizes things normally thought to be repulsive to a word that symbolizes something almost all cultures revere as beautiful shows the power words have, the power of a poet. anne couldn't always control her own life, externally and internally tortured, but words gave her a way to turn rats into stars :)
I remember reading somewhere that she saw the palindrome mentioned above by edienoir writen on the side of a barn, I believe, in Ireland or something and falling in love with it. I sort of wonder too, given that some compulsive disorders drive people to read things backwards, if that didn't have something to do with it.
