Its very eerie to be seeing all the devastation happening and being 3,000 miles away and unable to do anything about it. Four years ago I was out walking in the ash-laden air, or glued to the local 24 hour coverage of the fire-storms; trying to make sense of it all, but secure in the knowledge that I was able to make choices and keep my family safe ( Read more... )

I'm sorry to hear that you had to flee your home. Are your dogs with you? Good to know that Fellow Feri practitioners are safe though.

If it's any tiny bit of reassurance, know that your dogs are probably lucky enough not to know what's going on. Here in Hillcrest, you can just barely smell smoke, like a neighbor has a woodfire in a fireplace. When Chewie and I were in Golden Hill yesterday afternoon, the sky was bright and clear, and you couldn't smell anything. I am getting a bit congested by this point, but it's really nothing. It's eerie to be so unaffected when there's so much terror so near by, but your doggies are not flipping out from ash falling from the sky and a dull orange sun like in 2003. So that's one less thing you have to worry about.
