heheh it just seriosuly sucks cuz the ONLY and i repeat ONLY ppl this benifits are white males. There are ppl who are gettiing scholarship money taken from them... they are closing down shelters for abused women. People are just ignorant its not all about race.

well i disagree. i do not like the idea that people would need the help of affirmative action. when someone completes medical school, engineering school, or law school, they should feel confident and so should everyone else that they are capable. no person should be able to discredit anyones accomplishments and that is exactly what affirmative action does. it makes it alright to day "oh, you know, women in engineering", when in fact that is very very wrong.

I dnt believe it takes away from their accomplishments for the meer fact that they still had to work just as hard to get into and graduate fro medical school or law school or wutever. They still worked hard. What affirmative action does is allow women and minorites to be put on a level playing field with white men. No matter how optimistic u may be, the truth is racisism and sexism still exsists and it is still thriving and until the day comes that minorities are truly looked upon as equals, let me know. Trust me today is not the day. Its not only college tho. Shelters for abused women are being closed because they only benifit women. Thats not fair by all means, is it?

Btw they arent like hey little blk girl on the streets who has never taken a course in school... heres a full ride to medical school. The ppl work just as hard and NO ONE denies that. If they do then they are in the wrong.

i realize that they are not saying, "hey little blk girl on the streets who has never taken a course in school... heres a full ride to medical school". i know discrimination still exists and trust me, i know that people have to take the same classes to graduate. what i was trying to say was that it gives racist pigs the opportunity to say that person couldnt do it on their own. they NEEDED affirmative action. that makes me sick.

btw affirmative action actually started to hurt women b/c of the disproportionate amount of women enrolled in university. and it also is not going to shut shelters in michigan. what passed changed government and public universities.

i do not believe that affirmative action will ever get minorities and women to be looked at as equals. people will think that they just got in because they are a minority. and at that rate it is not helping all minorities. asians area minority but apparently affirmative action shouldnt apply to them.

Hey honey, I liked the idea of affirmative action, and actually voted against proposal two. But really, the fact that it failed doesn't mean it's going to be completely abolished, chances are it'll probably be altered to rely more on a student's family income instead of just their race. So then, you won't have hispanic kids, for example, that live in Bloomfield hills getting points for their background. On top of that, it'll force the government to deal with the core of the problem. That is, improving elementary schools. Trust me, I'm not thrilled that it passed because I'm still trying to transfer into UofM, but really, is it so bad that now it depends solely on my grades?...Hope for an improvement chicky!!

P.S. What's this about Ohio?
