The good, the Evil, and the Heechul
Prologue
Title: The Good, the Evil, and the Heechul (Prologue)
Pairing/Characters: Main!SiChul and HanChul. I might add some later, but these are the only people that are IMPORTANT for the main plot. We'll see what else comes up, hmm?
Rating: Most chapters will be PG-13 (Maybe PG-15... For language) but this one is PG-15 for mentioning of certain things and.... Burning......?
Genre: AU, romance, humour, spiritual?, supernatural??
Warning: This fic deals with a lot of spiritual themes. Such as past lives, reincarnation, higher entities and all that stuff... It also has a little bit of things dealing with occult. Not much, but hey, some people feel uncomfortable with those subjects. There might also be a few Religious themes. As in Christian religious (Whoo.... Reincarnation and Christian stuff!) And not to forget the supernatural!
Summary: The first time it hadn't worked out, but when Siwon is told to be Heecul's Guardian Angel, he sees it as a second chance, even if Heechul can't see or hear him (So he thinks) and even if he could, he can't even touch him. Can he possibly make it work? A human-soul relationship is hard, especially when an old jealous friend decides to make an appearance.
A/N: Wooooh, another one........ (I refuse to let myself say this most of the time, but that was actually a really failtastic summary.............) Oh, and just as a side note... Evil!Geng. Dunno how that works, but it did. So deal with it.
O__O NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I'm writing another series! NOOOO! I was hoping to avoid this predicament. But then I decided to read some supernatural-ish fics and my mom decided to tell me about that book... And then THIS came into my head while reading a random fic that has nothing to do with it!
Thank God I do have the ENTIRE thing planned out! But still...... Oh well. It all came to me and I HAD to write it down! I havea ridiculously long summary of the entire story (Except this chapter, which I only knew the end for....)
And if you're wondering (probably not yet, since you haven't started reading yet) I decided to switch up the beginning a bit... I mean how cliche is Heechul being Prince? So that's my explanation...........
Oh, and the whole medieval thing is only temporary. Trust me, it doesn't even last the whole chapter.Actually it does but....
I dunno how I even wrote like this.... O__O This style of writing won't last very long... It's annoying for me to write like this.
And credit to my loving sister who sat through me explaining this whole thing to her and giving me the title! Too bad she doesn't have an LJ....
-----------
He had always been a good man. He didn't deserve this. He had been good to his father, to his friends, to his family, to his God. He didn't deserve this at all.
Heechul lifted his chin with dignity as he watched the Prince struggle to remain still by the King's side rather than running forward to save his lover. Siwon's normally stoic face was filled with sadness, anger... And fear.
They had met a little over a year ago. Siwon was the Prince, heir to the throne, and he was also quite the swordsman, leading the army in each of it's battles-- and winning. Men respected him, women flirted and attempted to seduce him, but Siwon never budged. He was loyal to his father and spent his time with his soldiers, or practicing, or with his friends. And later, with his lover.
Heechul, on the other hand, was nothing but a poor farmer, selling his family's crops and animals among other things just to keep his parents and siblings alive. He was stubborn, yes, and acted as though he could be royalty, definitely, but he loved his family and did what he could to support his young siblings and sickly parents. His beautiful face and charming smile were perfect for convincing the other villagers to buy.
Maybe it was fate that had brought them together. On one of the days Siwon would disguise himself as a simple peasant and spend time with his subjects, he came across the stubborn yet beautiful farmer trying to sell a horse. He (What woman in her right mind would be wandering around in pants and a tunic like that?) had long, silky hair tied up with a band behind his head, and soft, milky skin. He smiled as he pocketed the money he had just earned from a few vegetables. Then he spotted the man in the cloak by his horse.
"Hello." Heechul had greeted with a grin, "Can I help you?"
Siwon touched the horses nose, stroking it gently. It was a beautiful creature. "How much do you want for her?"
Heechul restrained himself from laughing. Although quite handsome, this man wore clothes that even he wouldn't want to be seen in. This man couldn't afford his horse. "Too much for you."
The Prince in disguise looked to the smirking farmer and smiled back, dimples and all. "500 gold? 1,000 gold?"
Heechul barely heard the offer. His attention was caught by the man's smile. Such a dazzling, beautiful smile... But then his brain registered what had come from those gorgeous lips and Heechul's eyes widened, "500 gold? 1,000 gold? Are you joking? Most people would offer at most 50 for her!"
Siwon sighed, continuing to stroke the mare, "She is worth more than that. She's beautiful, has well built muscles and looks to be one of the fastest I've seen in years."
"Well," Heechul crossed his arms, "Suppose she was worth the money. Why would you be at all interested? Sweet talking me has no effect when you don't have the gold to back it up."
Siwon raised an eyebrow, "Is that what you think?" He reached into his pack and pulled out a fair sized bag, throwing it to the thin farmer, "I would love to take her off your hands."
Heechul hurriedly opened the bag, doubting there would be so much as a few rocks for the effect. But he squinted when the mid-day sun's light reflected off the coins and into his face. There was at least 600 gold worth of coins. He quickly closed the bag and tied it to his belt. "You have a deal." He said, untying the reins from the post and handing them over to the tall, handsome man.
It was Siwon's turn to smirk as he took the reins, but it slowly faded as his hand brushed the shorter man's. He felt his heart speed up, his cheeks burn, and he turned away.
Heechul felt the same, but he did little more than stare after the man as he walked away with the horse.
The next time they met was at the funeral of Heechul's mother. Siwon had come down on the beautiful mare he had bought from the gorgeous farmer (His father had yelled at him about how stupid an idea that was and how he already had enough horses. But this horse was his favourite. She was the fastest, the strongest, and... She reminded Siwon of him) on one of his periodic visits. There was a small procession going through the town and he had asked one of the other villagers of what had happened. The woman had replied saying that her friend's sister had died. She was a farmer, but she was very well known throughout the town. Siwon had simply nodded and nudged the horse to follow the line of people.
At the cemetery, many villagers had gathered around. Including the beautiful farmer from before. He held a small, frail girl in his arms, another taller girl and boy clung to him, all four with tears staining their cheeks. Siwon had an urge to go up to him and wipe the tears away, telling him it was alright. And yet he didn't even know for sure why there were tears. They were everywhere.
"She was special to you, wasn't she?"
Heechul turned quickly with a gasp, looking up at that handsome smile of the man who had taken home his horse. The horse standing right there, next to him. Heechul quickly wiped his face with his sleeve, faking a smile, "You again." He put the girl in his arms down on the grass, telling all three of the children to go off somewhere else.
Siwon watched them run off, "They are you're children?" It was a possibility. The farmer was old enough to have children of his own.
Heechul couldn't help but chuckle, "No. They are my sisters and my brother." His chuckle was quickly silenced and he looked down, "My motherless sisters and brother."
The smile vanished from the Prince's face, "The woman's funeral... Oh, I'm so sorry!" He reached out to lay a comforting hand on his shoulder, but the farmer shrugged it off.
"It's nothing, really. She was sick for so long. I wanted to use the money you gave me for the horse on medicine, but I spent almost all of it on a good doctor who could only tell me she was to die." He looked over to where the village's Priest was saying a few words, ensuring his mother a good life in heaven.
Siwon bit his lip, "Do you need more money?"
Heechul's head snapped back up, anger now filling his eyes. "Do you really think me that poor?! Do you really think I can't make my own money?! Do you think me incompetent?!"
"What?" The Prince was taken aback by the sudden outburst, "I don't... No. No! I was just offering some help!"
The farmer huffed, "You've already helped enough. I don't want you stealing the pride from my family! We've managed up until now, I think we can continue that way." And with that he turned on his heel to join the crowd gathered around the Priest and casket.
Siwon sighed and ran after him, grabbing his arm, "Listen."
Heechul crossed his arms and ignored the handsome man.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to show so little respect."
Heechul snorted, but it was hard diverting his attention from the man.
"Let us be friends."
"Friends?" Heechul turned and looked up.
Siwon nodded, putting out his hand, "My name is Siwon."
Heechul laughed, "You have the same name as our Prince. I'm Heechul." They shook.
Siwon made more trips down to the village after that day. He often helped on the farm, he brought candied nuts, puddings, and other treats for Heechul's siblings. He learned all about Heechul's family. Heechul's youngest sister loved sheep and often tried to ride the family's flock, Heechul's brother wanted to go to the monastery some day to train to become a brother or a Priest, his father carved things from wood when he could, because he was always in bed sick, and his older sister, Heejin, secretly wished she could learn to sword fight. Siwon decided to teach her. Heechul would sit at the sides after the day's chores (which often went by quicker because Siwon helped out) and admired how swift and precise the man was with the wooden sword his father had carved.
In the Summer, Heechul still watched as they trained. At this point, Siwon had left his shirt on the ground. Heechul found himself slightly aroused by the way his muscles flexed as he lunged forward, but Heejin expertly deflected the sword and reposted, catching Siwon on the leg. Siwon stumbled froward and fell, out of breath. Heechul wanted to jump up and help him, but his prominent arousal kept him sitting.
"You're better than many of the expert swordsman I've fenced." Siwon laughed, rolling onto his back.
Heejin beamed, "Really?!"
"By far."
Heechul smiled. Always, their father had told them it was wrong for a girl to learn the ways of the sword. But he had said it was alright for her to learn from Siwon. "Someone needs to be able to protect the family, and priests can't fight." He laughed, ruffling his son's hair. And Heecul was but a simple farm boy.
Siwon looked over to Heechul and smiled that beautiful smile Heechul had fallen for the first day, "Yah!"
Heejin waved her arms, "Oppa! Come here!"
Heechul reluctantly got up from his spot, only to sit down again when he reached the two.
Heejin fell back onto the soft grass, "It's such a lovely day."
Heechul felt his heart ache as his sister pressed herself to Siwon's side. She had told him earlier how much she liked Siwon, and that she dreamed of him asking for her hand. After all, she was of age to marry. But she didn't know how Heechul felt the same. How his heart sped up everytime Siwon smiled, or how Siwon's expert hand held the sword turned him on. Whether it was a silly, juvenile crush, or maybe more... "Heejin," Heechul said, "It's almost lunch time. Why don't you go and make us something. I'm sure Siwon is awfully hungry after your duel." He smiled, "You wore him out."
Heejin pouted, but got up and ran to make lunch anyways.
Siwon closed his eyes, "You're sister is so kind."
Heechul snorted, "You have no idea. You're never around when it comes."
"Is she like you?"
"What's that supposed to mean?"
The Prince's dimpled smile resurfaced, "You're stubborn and easy to anger. I was only wondering if perhaps she was like you."
Heechul glared, "I may be stubborn and easy to anger, but--"
Siwon pushed himself off the ground, "You're also very kind. You care for your family more than anything, and I know you would be willing to give your life to help them if need be."
Heechul gulped as his face grew hotter. Was it Siwon's words or the way he looked at him? Such loving eyes...
The Prince reached forward and touched the farmer's cheek, "I really like you, Heechul."
Heechul's eyes widened when he realized what the man in front of him was doing. He knew it was wrong, it was against God, and if they were caught, they would most likely be burned, hanged or beheaded. But when Siwon's lips met his, he melted. Thoughts of whatever could happen gone. All that mattered was that Siwon liked him as well. So he kissed him back.
The King was furious. Where was his son? He hadn't come back that night, and he wasn't in his room in the morning. The sun was already high in the summer sky when Siwon returned, eyes glazed over like a lovesick puppy. He knew his son had been sneaking into the village in disguise to interact with peasants. It was good. But what if he had been courting a girl that whole time? What if he was in love? No, that could not happen. The girl would be too poor, thus the court officials would be angry and a rebellion would be planned to overthrow the royal family.
The King could not risk such things happening. So he sent one of the best spies in the kingdom to go and follow Siwon into the village the next time he went and report back to him.
He didn't have to wait long, as Siwon was preparing to leave the next morning. The spy followed the Prince to the farm.
Heechul smiled as Siwon rode up to the house. The Prince brought his horse to the barn before approaching Heechul. He hesitated and Heechul had to pull him down for a swift kiss, "They're inside." He said afterwards.
The spy watched from the shrubs. At first the farm boy looked like a woman, meaning the King was right. But no woman would wear men's clothes like that. The King would not be happy. Not in the least.
"What?!" The King shouted upon hearing what his spy had to say.
"You Majesty, I'm afraid it's true."
The King glared at the man in front of him, "Find him. Find them. Bring them both here. I must put an end to this sodomy."
Siwon woke in the bed that was slowly becoming familiar. Heechul was wrapped in his arms, his skin warm against Siwon's own. He felt guilty. If only Heechul could know that one day, Siwon wouldn't be able to come anymore. That he would have to marry--a woman, no less!--and have a family. If only he knew that the man sleeping next to him was the Prince, the one who would soon rule the country. He wished Heechul could be with him, be the one he would marry, be the one he could start a family with (There were always orphan children who needed a home). But he couldn't. Being with Heechul was an act against God. His father would curse him, and tell him that the country deserved a pure King. One who wasn't gay.
Heechul shifted, burying his face in the crook of Siwon's neck. He took a deep breath, "Siwon?"
The Prince came out of his thoughts, "Yes?"
Heechul tilted his head back slightly to look into his eyes, "Do you love me?"
Siwon simply smiled. He wished he didn't. "Yes, I do."
Heechul grinned, closing his eyes, "Good."
"Do you love me?" Siwon asked, running a hand through Heechul's long, silky hair.
The farm boy groaned, pushing himself up before leaning over the handsome man, a smirk on his lips, "More than you could ever know." He captured Siwon's lips with his own.
"Heechul?" Heejin yelled from downstairs.
Heechul ignored his sister, losing himself in the kiss. Siwon couldn't hear anything but their hearts beating simultaneously.
"Heechul!" Heejin yelled once more, louder and more urgent. Once again, she was ignored.
A hand pulled Heechul back by his hair and he let out a yelp. Siwon watched as a man cloaked in black pulled Heechul off the bed. "What are you doing?" He shouted, leaping from the mattress and reaching for the sword he had hidden under his clothes on the floor. Another man pulled his arms behind his back, holding Siwon in place.
The man holding Heechul cackled, "Ah, your father wasn't very pleased when I told him about this."
Siwon gulped. His father knew.
Heechul looked to Siwon, "Your father? So you're a noble or something?"
Siwon's captor gave out a hearty laugh, "Noble!" He looked to Siwon, "You mean to tell me you haven't told him you're the Prince."
Heechul's eyes widened. That's why he had so much money, why he was so good with a sword, why he never stayed more than a day and a night. "You're the Prince?"
Siwon nodded solemnly. Nothing more was said. The men cloaked in black had the Prince and farmer dress quickly before bringing them outside, where three others were watching Heechul's siblings and his sickly father. Heejin was horrified, while the younger ones didn't understand why their brother was being taken away. His father, albeit he was very pale and could hardly muster a smile, let alone a glare, refused to look at his son. He had sinned. He wasn't his son any longer.
Heechul had been thrown into the dungeons after a brief, loud, meeting with the King. Siwon had been held back by several guards as the King condemned Heechul to burn at the stake for his sins. He was to die the day after next. His birthday.
Siwon had locked himself in his room, refused to talk to anyone, and cried. He had always been a strong man. Weak men don't lead armies. Weak men don't lead countries. But this was different. He loved Heechul. He wanted Heechul. He needed Heechul. The Priests always said God shows mercy on all. He forgives all. But now it wasn't God he needed forgiveness from. The King told him that he had a chance to be forgiven. As long as that forgiveness had nothing to do with Heechul.
Now he stood beside his father, struggling to keep from screaming out that Heechul didn't deserve it.
The King laughed, "You see, Siwon. If you were a peasant, you'd be down there with him."
Siwon bit back the words that urged to be set free. That he wanted to be down there with him. That if Heechul was to die, he wanted to die with him.
Heechul refused to look away from Siwon. He smiled as the guard tied him to the wooden post surrounded by twigs and dried hay.
The King raised his hand, signaling for the flames to be lit. Siwon looked away. He couldn't bare watching his lover die. The King huffed, "Siwon. This is what happens when you defy God." Two guards grabbed the Prince, forcing his eyes on Heechul.
His feet were already in pain as the flames licked at the soles of his shoes. He watched as the guards forced Siwon's eyes on him and he smiled wider, mouthing the words 'I love you' before his wool pants caught and he screamed.
The next day, the King found his son lying on his bed, his sword pinning him to the mattress.
Siwon still remembered that life. It wasn't only as a human that he loved Heechul. Also as a soul did he want be with him. They were, what humans called , soul mates. He could feel it, and he waited and waited for the life where he could meet him again, and then they could stay together on Earth and in Heaven (Humans had such strange names for things).
He was soon called by the Higher Ups to replace one of the Guardian Angels. When he saw who he would be guarding, he gasped. The Higher Ups smiled.
