Well, today was the day that the Mearns crowd descended upon Glasgow for some Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu and neck-wrenching !
The competition was brilliant - everyone barring my instructor Steve got put out in the first round, but that didn't bother us (especially considering how raw we were compared to the other guys.)
My Fight was good fun - it was from stand-up, so me and the other guy had a tight grip on each other with full intent to sweep. I managed to stop him from sweeping me for two minutes and kept on trying to floor him - we went to ground and he got me in full mount, although I bridged and managed to get my hands free. The guy was heavier, so I had real trouble getting him off - he then went for an armbar, but I stopped him and tried to go for a side mount. At that point, he caught me in a triangle choke - I managed to fight it for about 15 seconds or so before I started to lose conciousness so I tapped. Turns out I'd lasted over three minutes - not bad for an ill rookie !
All in all though, it was thoroughly enjoyable and I'll be working on my weaknesses - Next time, I'm bringing home a medal !
PS : Yes, these fights are FUCKING exhausting.
