I have, for the first time in my life, been the victim of public transport delays. Serious ones. My nice, usually prompt, 20 past 6 train finally departed Newcastle at 20 past 8. Apparently lightening had struck the power lines somewhere south of York and as due to this the signals had got buggered, as well as the power line helpfully falling over
