In Trance We Trust axistence June 11 2003, 14:25:32 UTC
Irritating isn't it? Because of the small percentage of rollers/poppers/trippers, trance gets a bad name.

I don't call myself a raver, but i rave. I like to dance, to lose myself in the music, to feel the beat, to dance like there's no tomorow, to fly to the heavens, to lose myself, even if its for that one night of sheer trance-y bliss. It just doesn't get better than that. you don't have to take drugs to feel trance.

Oh, whats wrong with glowsticks? I think they're cute and fun to dance with :p

i agree with u. u don't have to take drugs to feel trance, it is best enjoyed sober in its purest form.

people who can only enjoy trance when they are rolling are missing out on an experience!

well put Chris! Just think it's a bad rap, and nothing we can do about it, because ignorant people will stay like that.... IGNORANT.

I'd like to see someone stand in the front row of a PVD liveset for a couple hours... AND NOT GET A GREAT REACTION... that to me... would be an ART!

yea

pvd has really gone downhill as of late. he's defintely not producing quality sets like he used to several years ago when he was in his prime.

You do not know me but I found your post interesting...

Although you make an astounding point, some people may love the music, I, for example do love trance passionately...I do take the rolls often but it's for myself, not to enjoy the music...I can enjoy the music without the drug...fact is, just because people do the drugs does not give the scene a stereotype. Now the people whom only listen/enjoy trance/electronica/etc..while rolling are the ones who give the scene a bad rap. I've loved trance since 1999, it's not massive here in Miami but it's there, and I've seen where bad names are given to "ravers". As I've said, I began enjoying the music way before X, the X came later but it does not make me less of a trance lover because I do it...No drugs should not be the way, it's a persons choice...but trance is all I know and listen to even without the drugs.

=) I do see where you are coming from though.

good point!

if you insist, please take your drugs with caution. i've seen what kind of effects it can have on people when abused. moderation is key!

did u know? i have close dj friends in Miami.. one of my friends is good friends with Edgar V, who i believe is a resident dj at Space. can't wait til Ultra 2k4!

Yes I do take them with caution, it's not an everyday thing for me...but thank you!

Yes, Edgar V is a resident DJ at Space! I saw him last at Magical Maydaze on May 25, 2003! He is just awesome, he is one of my favorite DJ's. My personal info states it all! I know what you mean about Ultra! I really cannot wait either!
So you've seen Tiesto, awesome! I have yet to see him live, but he will be down on July 4 for a live set which I will be attending!
So if you know Edgar V, have you heard of Marcus Shaltz? He's another resident DJ here...awesome might I add!

Dood chris, I totally understand what you're saying! I hate those dumb stereotypes! It's really pathetic. I also hate asian stereotypes too! They think that just because I'm asian and I go to these so called "raves" that I don't have a clue what the music is or who the the dj is and and my soul purpose of going in the first place is to do ecstacy! :( the music is what got me hooked in this so called "scene" in the first place. Trance is the first form of electronica I got exposed to. It really change me as a person. It's just so beautiful. I could have the worst day ever and then I sit down and play a beautiful trance track and it totally moves me and makes me feel a lot better by putting a smile on my face. I don't understand why people are so quick to judge a person base on their musical preference(s) and make stupid assumptions. Oh wells, I say screw those ignorant people. They don't know what they're missing chris. :)

*HUGS*

Asian stereotypes are the -worst- when it comes to clubbing and dance. In good old Perth, WA, due to the high level of 'hardcore gangsta azns' around, if I go clubbing people look at me expecting to start fights or wallflower it. I'm one of the only people who will jump in and feel the beat without any blood alcohol level, or being dared to do something stupid.

Trance is an absolutely beautiful form of music, and I personally do not need drugs or anything else to enjoy it. Glowsticks are fun to see how many times you can wave out your name before anyone picks up on it though :).
