Any decent person who is fond of cats has experienced the theres-a-cat-on-my-lap phenomenon. There could be any other person/place/thing on your lap and a simple "Can you hold on one second while I _______ (use the bathroom, answer the phone, put out the fire, etc.)" would suffice. man, i know exactly what you're talking about. its happened to me a few times. it's even worse when the cat falls asleep and you can't even move lest it awaken..

Occasionally at my parents house you can witness the same phenomenon, only with 60 pound dogs instead of cats. As for actual cats...Phoenix isn't a lap kitty...he prefers to roost on the keyboard of my laptop until he has received the attention he requires. Silly cat.
