Oh, stabby memories. They sure do take up a lot of room. They comfort and they torment.

There's such wonder when you have a spectacular moment and everything freezes while you take it in--what awe. It's so easy to forget that that will happen, that life goes on and while carrying around your past, it is by no means all that you're left with. And the past, too, transforms.

I am thrilled for you and your new adventures. Sabbatical, sabbatical. Where will you go?

There is already an answer to this, if I can get my ass in gear to finish my research in time.

Manchester, UK. I've always wanted to go to the UK, and now I get to do it.

There is also another conference in Amsterdam that same month. That's a little more, uh, complicated. But I'm still considering it. I may even go to visit my adopted little sister. We'll see how far I get in therapy.

My Dutch is completely non-existent these days. But hopefully the English will be close enough to get by. ;D

What is the time frame for your possible Amsterdam visit? I live just outside Amsterdam and would love to see you. English will get you by with no trouble, thank the gods!

That would be really cool! It is in July of 2011, I can check on the dates to get a better idea of exactly when I'd be there.

I'm kind of getting excited about going somewhere, even though it is a year and a half away.

I love that place. And I truly believe that everyone needs to go to Rome at least once in their lifetime.

So funny, I keep thinking, "there is this great restaurant I want to go back to..." Ah, Italy. The land without to go cups.
