Years ago I had a fantasy of a play/sex party where there would be, essentially, volunteer prostitutes, women who would be there to help facilitate other women's sexual experiences - not because they had to for economic reasons, but because they enjoyed the idea of doing this for other women. In my mind they were exactly what you have described as Courtesans. What a fabulous idea!!
