The new Cursive album is no Ugly Organ or Domestica, but it's not bad. It was really difficult to imagine Cursive without cello, considering the direction that the band is taking itself. It's not hard to see how far they've come since Such Blinding Stars for Starving Eyes, or even Domestica for that matter. Happy Hollow continues the trend set by ( Read more... )

I have to agree, this is something different from what I have heard from the band, Happy Hollow has a lot of songs that are more upbeat and dare I say funkier than any of the songs from say, the Ugly Organ. I was listening to Happy Hollow on the bus (to cleanse out the Madonna backwash from the concert tonight) and I was not impressed. But I will have to listen to it again to see be sure that it is not entertaining after the first run.

I would give the thing a 6.5-7/10.

i only listened to it once and also was not impressed, i can only hope to have the patience to try again, but i was never a huge cursive fan in the first place
