I'm just five seconds from the Brooklyn promenade, and I can see two of the waterfalls really easily. They're just gorgeous. And unlike the gates of Central Park (which I appreciate, considering they were attempting to replicate--poorly--the torri at Fushimi Inari-Taisha in Kyoto), they're so much more accesible, aesthetically and artistically.
I don't know much about Iceland. But the Nords have always seemed lightyears ahead of us in terms of functional art.
