With just over one week left until election 2008 I find myself wishing I was still a California resident. My vote for Barack Obama here in New York means no more than my vote in California. Both states will carry all their electoral votes to Obama by a strong margin. There are no huge referendums, propositions or local elections here in NY/NYC ( Read more... )

The pro ads are awful and misleading. I can't believe that no one looks at this and sees it as the being equivalent to not allowing marriage between people of different races or religions. Years from now we'll look back and everyone will view this as the civil rights movement that it is. And we'll all be embarrased that this kind of inequality was allowed at all, like we are now (well, some of us...) about slavery.

Now, I am in no way advocating throwing in the towel, but you should get used to disappointment. There are a lot of ignorant, stupid wastes of human beings that would vote yes on prop 8; and then there are a lot of perfectly reasonable, accepting people who would also vote yes on prop 8. We are the minority right now, that's just the way it is ( ... )
