Checking in! ::salutes:: I'll be ready to post on the day. :)
Snippet: "The..." Savreux lowered his voice and stepped closer. "The Ripper. It is him."
"Jack the Ripper was active nearly fifty years ago," James murmured.
Savreux tutted. "And if one is to believe the rumors, you investigated those crimes. As well as the revival of murders ten years on." He glanced toward the sheets and shuddered as he recalled what lay underneath their pristine whiteness. "Even if you are not the same man, Monsieur Watson, these killings match the public record all too well. Our lives are brief, but we are mortal. Surely anything capable of this violence is subhuman. And monsters tend to be long-lived, do they not?"
"And occasionally," James mused, "the long-lived tend to be monsters."
Still in! Not sure whether my fic will be a Mini or a Big. It'll definitely crack 5k - I'm only on part 2 of 6 and it's already 2k - but I'm not sure yet whether it'll go over 10 or just get close. I'm writing steadily, so hopefully I'll have a nice rough draft for August (I can always knock out the opening scenes of a few of my other sections if I'm not quite done, to give a overall impression of what the story will be - is that what a 'rough draft' is? Because I tend to write chronologically through a story, and so it looks less 'rough draft' and more 'unfinished' until it's properly done). Also if you need more artists I can do digital art and fanmixes.
Snippet from Part 1 (each part is/will be a different pairing) -- in which Helen decides to have sex for the first time:
Helen believes in science. She believes in rational thought and the education of women. She believes in a woman’s right to own property, and universal suffrage, and that her primary value is her brain and not her virtue
( ... )
Thanks for checking in, as for the rough drafts, I'll be posting more inform about them later but that should be okay. It's pretty much just making sure that everyone has enough of a fic that the artists actually get something to work on and that they're not left out to dry. As for your snippet, that was some heavy thinking on Helen's part and I can't wait to see where it takes her.
Oh, and thank you for the art offer, if you like to, you can go ahead and sign up as one or wait and see how this check in will go first.
Just FYI, I've already cracked 5k (on part 2 of 6, lol wordy mcwordpants), so I'm preeeeeetty sure this puppy will end up being a Big. Unless I somehow manage to learn to be succcinct in the next four parts, which lol yeah right as if. But yay words, anyway (I love that with a big bang, one is rewarded for being a wordy bastard). :D
I'm still in! First story is at 20k currently so I'd like to change it to a Mega :) Second one I have to start anew I think, cause I got myself stuck somehow. But I'll definitely finish the 5k for that one :) So yeah, all good.
I am hoping that I am still in. I picked up a second job (yay for finally getting into my industry!) which is a good thing, but means my time is suddenly way limited. But I'm about to get a break in school for a few weeks so am hoping to get a lot of work done then.

As for a snippet:
Moira watched as Helen looked through the microscope. She still had the look of determined curiosity on her face that Moira remembered so well.
"It's fascinating..." Helen commented before moving away from the microscope.
"A fascinating curse, yes," Moira quipped with a soft laugh.
