[The video shows a pleasant-looking young man wearing a school uniform, with a Meowth curled up lazily on his shoulder. The scenery behind him looks shows generic Pokemon Center counters. There's a moment where he seems to be fiddling with the Pokegear, then he smiles amicably at the camera.]Good afternoon~ This device a bit more complex than I'm ( Read more... )

"This place"? Surely the world itself can't decide that.

Hm, Violet City... If I recall the map correctly, that's rather far from here. I may suffer from withdrawal before I can reach it, in that case. Oh dear.

The world is sentient? Well that's certainly different.

[GASP OF HORROR] "Just" books? Surely you jest! They're not simply words scribbled on a page, they're a window into the human condition! They contain fountains of knowledge and history, of innovation and inspiration! Writers pour their very soul into the pages, so that the feelings may be transferred into our own hearts when we read them! By immersing ourselves in the story, we achieve a level of intimacy with the writer normally only available to the most passionate of lovers!

[beat]

Plus, I simply must find out if Hiroshi and Shizuko get together or not.

[... well, this is certainly a fantastic thing to wake up to. Have a chuckle.]

You certainly sound like you're enjoying yourself already.

[oh, don't I know you?]

Well, it's not every day you wake up to find yourself in a video game, after all.

Is that it? And here I thought the highlight of it all would be the charming company.

[hm, perhaps~]

That's part of the game experience, isn't it? [taking this opportunity to scritch behind the meowth's ears, who from the purring seems to greatly enjoy it.] Unless you mean the young lady, in which case I'd tell you that we certainly aren't devoid of those at home.

[Oh, another familiar face, though not one Yukimura knows very well. Still, he's seen Oshitari around the tennis circuit.]

I believe we're all stuck here for the moment, but I've been assured that time moves different at home while we're here. You shouldn't miss your practice, if that's true.

[oh look, it's Rikkai's captain~]

Hm, really? How very interesting. This place certainly doesn't seem to operate under the same laws of physics we're used to, does it.

No, not really. That's the only explanation for some of the things these Pokemon can do, as well. I'm afraid you'll just have to get used to it.

The Pokemon's abilities do seem to follow a kind of logic, at least. Time dilation and the fact that apparently the world itself is capable of "deciding" things are a bit more concerning. But I'm nothing if not adaptable~

...Ah, and you're probably a good person to ask this: they do have tennis here, yes?
