richmond/albany-->kentfield commute

Aug 09, 2011 12:28

Does anyone do Richmond/Albany to Southern Marin commute during the week? I have to get to my destination by 8am. How long do you think it takes? Google Maps shows very little traffic however I'm very suspicious of Google Maps.

Thanks!

580 in that direction is pretty light, but it will make a BIG difference if you have Fastrak. Fastrak gets 2/3 of the lanes in the morning so if you don't have it already, I suggest you get a Fastrak transponder. You can usually pick 'em up at Wal-Mart, Costco, most grocery stores, etc.

Fastrak is sold at Walgreens, Safeway, and Costco. I don't think Wal Mart carries it, unless that's really recent.

I've been driving Oakland to San Rafel around 8:30 am. zipping right along!

i've had fasttrak for a while now, thanks.

i ask because a friend of mine does richmond to kentfield around 7am and says traffic is horrible, so it got me concerned.

For what it's worth, I've found Google's traffic map overlay to be very accurate.

really? i've found myself not trusting google maps. often, it takes me longer to get to where i'm going than what google says.

I don't mean their directions. I mean that when it says a segment of roadway is going at the speed limit (green), slow (yellow), or stop and go (red) it tends to be very accurate.
