Wow I had no idea there was an Occupy San Jose. It seems like there are a lot of jobs in this area, I guess I thought people would be working instead of occupying :P
It's interesting, the most frequent insult that gets shouted at us by cars driving by is, "Get a job!" Which begs the question as to what are they doing cruising around downtown SJ on a Saturday night. Shouldn't they be working too?
A large portion of the people down there (including myself and a couple of my friends) are doing both, obviously those of us with jobs aren't able to stay at the encampment permanently but we come out as often as we can. The media meme going around that it's just a bunch of jobless transients looking to have a long-term outdoor picnic at the city's/taxpayers' expense is a myth.
I actually live close to Santa Clara. I don't know the area very much at all, but I only know this from going to Westfield mall, I'm pretty sure that's in Santa Clara and Santana Row.
Yep! It's near Santana Row. We call it Valley Fair mall. It's pretty close to where I live. Four miles or so.
I don't have a car/license. When I move to California I didn't make time for it with a crazy job schedule, but now I have a better job so I expect to have them soon. I usually bike around or my roomie or bf drive me.
I'm not into weed, but my bf & roomie are enthusiasts. Actually, everyone I know is, haha. If you want maybe I can introduce you. :) They also love sports. I don't know if that's your thing or not.
Are you interested in roller derby at all? Getting involved with the Silicon Valley Roller Girls is how I met most of my friends out here. You don't have to play, you can ref or do stats or volunteer in other ways. It's a good way to meet a big group of cool girls and have a near-instant social circle.

I live in Santa Clara, but go down the street one direction and I'm in Sunnyvale. Down the street in another, I'm in San Jose.
I'm out of state at the moment, but I'm down for hanging out when I get back next weekend.

I don't have a car either :( If I want to go somewhere I have to walk, if I'm lucky enough I get a ride.
Do you have AIM or Skype or Facebook ?
