Look up Cera Byer's classes online. She is amazing. Also, if you are interested in ballet, there is a woman who runs classes called "ballet for the people". It's classes for people who were injured or haven't dance in a while. She is amazing too. Good luck! Enjoy!

Miraido Studio (http://www.yelp.com/biz/miraido-studio-san-jose-2#query:salsa) in San Jose is really cheap (something like $5 for Tuesday & Friday evenings, and Thursday evening lessons are free!) and it's super fun there. You don't have to bring someone with you to dance if you don't want to. I've been there once and they basically do the teaching in the middle and you rotate in a circle so you can dance with a bunch of different people. You can also opt to stay out of the circle and dance with whoever you bring with you ( ... )

There's a few great venues in Berkeley where you can take a dance class, and then there's an actual dance, with an actual band!

The Ashkanaz does a range types of social dance on different nights. http://www.ashkenaz.com/

The Starry Plough does Irish folk dancing on Mondays. http://www.starryploughpub.com/irishdanceandceili/
