If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want
- good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

Pronunciation. byrdie June 11 2008, 22:45:18 UTC
There was a period where my I was nearly terrified to try to pronounce anything in Hebrew near you because you'd laugh uproarously and then correct it. During a pre-game shopping trip to the local Q-Fuque, we were looking for candles. I pointed out some and you suggested we not try for those as they were for a type of Jewish observance. I looked at the Hebrew printed on them and asked you what they said. You took a breath to start to read the label off to me, froze, shot me a suspcious glare and asked me why I thought you knew how to speak Hebrew.

"Because there's a picture of you in your mother's house that shows you wearing a yamika and reading from The Torah."

You blinked. "Oh. Well. That."

To this day I still sound like I'm trying to cough up a lung when I try to explain halvah to people.

:)

That's _yarmulke_, believe it or not, although you captured the pronounciation perfectly. And the candles we were looking at were _yahrzeit_, used to celebrate the anniversary of a death. Not something to burn for a Vampire game.

Dude, I looked up the head covering, got it wrong and was corrected on that spelling by Google. Not my fault. hrmph!

And thanks to all of your corrections, I was right: you did know how to read Hebrew. =P

That detail I'd forgotten. But it just made me laugh loud enough to be glad I'm home alone. :)

Sitting on your new leather couches, in your new lovely house, with your new lovely bride and your new white dog (of doom) watching West Wing, which was at that time new. In the time before kids (tm).

Oh, and reading from our Palms at your wedding. Just to name a few.

Which makes me all think that we four should have dinner or something sometime. I never see you two any more, even though you and the lovely Mr. L have lunch together and they I get to hear about it over dinner, it's not really the same you know.

*hugs*

My wedding wasn't that long ago. . . sfeldon June 12 2008, 01:11:13 UTC
Why were you all using Palm III variations? :)

Yeah, we need to have dinner. In our CFT.

*sigh*

Hanging out at your house, watching Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead as everyone told me how fabulous it was...then falling asleep in the middle of it and being razzed later. Sigh.

Too many to count, really. I remember yabbling with you a lot at the old ACC, sparring good-naturedly on BB, having some long, meandering and really fun conversations . . . and also a few years ago finding out from you, to my horror, that people were saying that I had terminal cancer (rather than possibly terminal cancer, which is a different thing entirely). Heh. ("Still alive, losers!")

One of the real downsides about being down here in California is that I'm not forming new fond memories of you, Steve.
