Did you read ONE FOR SORROW? That VINTAGE sounds eerily similar, but I haven't read either (yet) so I obviously don't know for sure. :)

I really need to start reading the Hearn books. I've had my eye on them.

Well, they both had teenage boys and ghosts that needed help, and dysfunctional families, but they weren't really that similar. Vintage has a gay protag, OFS doesn't. The plot is different, too.
