I met Jaz years ago.  I don’t even remember how.  But I remember thinking that she was really cute.  I asked her out twice, and twice she canceled.  After that I gave up.  The message was pretty clear.  I had even asked her out to go for a walk.  She has a dog, so she had to go for walks anyhow.  Now years later, I’ve been seeing her around a lot

Hearing about these older single women you're trying to date makes me wonder-- are they so resistant because they're being super picky, or are they single because they are just so closed-minded? It shouldn't be that hard to get a first date at this age I think-- you would think people would be more open minded about going for a darn walk! I'm glad she decided to but geeze, what's with all the hesitance and resistance thread in so many of these stories...

That is a really good question you ask. I don't know the answer. Most lesbians in Santa Fe are in the 50-65 age bracket, so that is menopausal or post. I wonder if that is part of the problem. In menopause (and before) there is a much reduced sex drive. Maybe if we stop caring about sex so much, we lose similar interest in relationships? Or maybe it has something to do with me? I'm willing to consider that. I know that I am much more picky than I used to be. I wish that wasn't so. But I have dated lots of interesting women this year, almost none of whom have shown any interest in further dating. So many women seem to settle into an older age of singlehood. I'd rather not.

Thanks. It certainly has more potential than any other date I've had this year (which is a great way to end the year), but I'm confused about it all. At least I feel different than I did at the beginning of the year, full of more hope.
