New Years Eve After-Action Report

Dropped into FleetChat IRC before my workshift to wish everybody there a fond NYE, then it was off to the races.

Some of my New Years Wishes: I really wish people firing their guns off into the air at midnight would realize the concept of, "What Goes Up, Must Come Down" and if they must express themselves in such a manner, use blanks. I also wish that people who decide that they MUST go out and party, do so with a sober driver or arrange an alternative way to get home.  To those who may fit that category: You may not want to live, I DO!

My highlight tonight was sitting in my car at one of my sites catching up on paperwork when a van pulled up alongside. Seems one of the occupants, while climbing over the seats to confront some kids who launched a bottle rocket that hit the side of the van (No Damage), managed to LOSE a necklace, with a value of $5,000. They asked if I would assist in the search and despite how nasty it was outside, and how warm my car was, I told them I would be happy to do so.  After about 15 minutes of searching the road, drainage, landscaping and having my Mag-Lite start to die on me (Good thing I have the rechargable kind!), we finally found it under the rear seats of the van.   I walked next door to a restaurant where the lady had went, to see if she had lost it there, and in front of the security guard who was sitting on a stool next to the counter drinking coffee (Different outfit than mine, be assured!), told her that it had been located.  The guard looked as they could spit nails at me (Grin)

Needless to say, the lady was VERY Appreciative of this, as the piece apparently was part of a set with matching earrings, all Black Hills Gold encrusted with Diamonds and marble sized dark grey (Black?) pearls...easily 10-15K of Bling-Bling there.  She insisted of getting my business card with the understanding that she would be calling my boss (The President of the Company) and telling him how appreciative she was.

I have to tell ya, considering the work I do, on this night of nights, getting a "Thank You" really made my night.

Did I just say, "Bling-Bling?"
