So there has been some extended complaining, on the part of video gamers, about a comment Obama made.

I often find myself defending video games - and I surely will keep defending them from people who say that they're corrupting out kids with violence and digital nipples... but... the man's just saying that sometimes little jimmy should play in the sandbox or ride a bike... which makes a heck of a lot of sense.

Like many things, it's not the video games that are "to blame". Although I'm not a gamer, I appreciate the games. Both of my kids play (and play and play) and they also are excellent students AND active athletically.

I agree with you. I love video games (and fiction!) but as a teacher, I have experienced my students who do nothing but play video games and watch t.v. while they can barely read (so much for the fiction) and their homework is undone, while they are failing my class and have no physical fitness. I think they should play video games, AND do their homework. And heck ya, they should get outside and ride their bikes too!
