So life is fun.

Boar's head was wonderful. I got choked up at the end though. When for the first time I connected the first half of the show to the last. When Good King Wenceslas was bowing to Jesus. He's a King. One of the most powerful people in the world. Yet he's bowing to a baby, because this baby is king of the universe. Yeah, I know all that, but it ( Read more... )

Yay for a boy asking you to a dance!!!

And don't worry too much about the "what ifs" of parenting, theology, etc. You're a sophomore (right?) - you'll have time do develope your "debating" skills... and really, it won't be a debate because you'll have so much more knowledge under your belt in another 2.5 year (and then if you go to the sem... another what, 3 or 4 more?). As far as kids, I don't like spending oodles of time with other people's kids, either. I started out at CURF as an elementary ed. major... I HATED it. But when they're YOURS, it's just different. I promise! And the languages - you love knowing them, but you hate working at them... how is that different from anything else in life? I would so rather eat a great meal or cake than cook them or clean up after them!

Don't stress right now - you've got lots and lots of time for your plans to fill out... or change... but you don't have to do it all tonight! For now, enjoy that Adam asked you to the dance... and did it in cookies! How fun is that!?!?!?!?

true story, am a sophomore.
technically, i know everything will be ok, but I suddenly got discouraged. Probably it was mostly me being tired.
also, i had had a little dispute with a friend, because a phrase that is theologically correct in my mind doesn't always come out that way to other people...sometimes words aren't my strongest thing...which is probably why i love other languages so much...lol
thanks so much though

and YES it is exciting...
i put this as my away message:
"honestly, is there anything better?
(well...truly, there is. but i'm content enough with this!)"

That is my absolute favorite part of Boar's Head. I have a hard time not bursting into tears when I see it...and I'm up in front! My favorite song is "Masters in this Hall" because I like the chorus, but Let All Mortal Flesh is my favorite part. Watching Skov (especially with his physical size) get down on his knees in front of a little baby...I'm getting choked up just thinking about it.

On another note, I know what you mean about the whole "yeah, but..." thing. I like kids, but only for a while...maybe someday you can rent kids (although I'm sure that wouldn't be good for the child in soooooo many ways). I don't have the oomph to do music...and it's my minor. That's sad. And doctrine...I know it, but expressing it is something completely different. Languages...yeah...we'll just leave it at that. Maybe I can join you in that "just sitting there" thing. I think that should be my major.

i love how when we practice Masters in this Hall, we die when he doesn't let us sing the chorus. :-P

Yeah...it really is the cutest thing ever...there was no way I could have said no.
actually, if one of the weirdos had asked me, I still would have said no. So that's good for Adam!
