I'm a volunteer first responder for sexual assault and intimate partner violence cases in the ER. I also train new volunteers each year. I volunteer at a homeless youth drop-in center and collect clothes and personal product to donate to the center.

I'm active with the local amateur radio groups, both for emergency communications response and public service events.

Aside from donating a load of gently used whatevers annually to Housing Works most of my actions are on the nano level: environmental actions like recycling, buying as local as possible, choosing earth friendlier products, turning off power, etc. I try to support local business instead of big corps.
On a more personal level I work with others towards personal recovery. I do believe that we can change a culture one recovered person at a time. I've also participated in very very grass roots efforts to support friends without insurance who have grave medical crisis; this year it was for a friend with cancer.

As an aside, Ducky does more than any other one person I (personally) know to show up for humanity. Go, Ducky.
