Consitutional Amendment

Nov 05, 2008 15:28

Since 52% of Californians who voted are haters, and since they think marriage is so sacred, I propose we put a new iniative on the next election for another amendment to the constitution.  Let's ban divorce.  If marriage is so sacred, then ban divorce.  Make it a crime and punishable by going to prison.

I agree wholeheartedly. Straight people screwed up marriage (by their own definition) way before the queers ever entered onto the scene.

well-said!!! if the majority can put minority rights on the voting ballot, why can't the minority do likewise to the majority??

i'd also like to ban blatant heterosexual public displays of affection! go home!!

Exactly. And if they can't end divorce, ban marriage all together.

These guys are mistaking sanctity with tradition. I just do not understand what's to protect with tradition. I agree that if they think marriage is so sacred, then they really should ban divorce. It is way too obvious that all that is just an act of being anti-gay and nothing more. Divorce is banned here in the Philippines and so is gay marriage, that's due to religious beliefs. I'm not exactly happy about it but at least they are consistent with their argument.

Thank you. I'm tired of hearing their lies about it not being about discrimination. That's exactly what it was about. And I didn't know that about divorce not being allowed in the Phillipines.

Yeah, divorce is not allowed here - only legal separation, which takes several months, or even years to process. It's also a bit expensive and takes so long that couples kiss and make up while waiting for the court's decision. Haha.

Blame it all on the conservative christians. I think people forgot about the importance of separation of church and state.

Actually I read a news article pointing out that Pop 8 passage has to do with the fact that we have huge voter turnout from latino and african american groups.

It's really ironic to me that group such as African American have traditionally claim that they're victim of discrimination in USA and yet at the same time they decided to vote against gay people (another minority group) by eliminating our right to get married.
