Keep the Gate Open: One Last Jaunt
As we are now in The Final Days Part One of Stargate: SG-1, it seems like a perfect time to start up with what will hopefully become a series of challenges. So, with great fanfare and jubilation, we announce the first ever...
'Keep the Gate Open' Challenge
Theme: "One Last Jaunt"
Your mission, should you chose to accept it (and we hope you will), is to write a fic on the given theme in 38 minutes or less. There is no word limit or word requirement -- in fact, given the time constraints, we're expecting many of them will be rather short. The point is to have fun and stretch your imaginations, so don't worry about the length, and don't worry about it being polished. Let the ideas flow!
This round's theme, 'One Last Jaunt,' is all about the upcoming finale. We're down to the very last episode ever, and it's anyone's guess what the PTB are going to do with it. This is your chance to wrap up the current season your way. There are a lot of loose threads dangling in the series right now -- how would you tie them up? Both speculation and fix-it fics are welcome. If you'd like some inspiration, consider checking out the finale trailer as aired on SkyOne, or
whisper99's trailer screencaps Or, hey, ignore the official finale altogether and do your own thing!
The challenge will run for two weeks and close on March 25th. Post responses to the comm as their own entries (or to your journal and then post a link here so we can all enjoy). Remember to please cut and warn for spoilers and ratings.
Since we know not everyone has seen the second half of the season yet, and won't get to watch the finale for a few months, we'll be re-running this challenge during The Final Days Part Two, right before the show wraps up in the states. We'll be running future challenges in the interim on themes that don't require having seen the new episodes, so stay tuned!
