Keep the Gate Open: One Last Jaunt (Reprise!)

Jun 17, 2007 17:45

As we're now moving into the week of the broadcast of the finale of Stargate SG-1 in its weekly-series incarnation, it's time to re-launch the One Last Jaunt challenge here at SG-1 Ever After. So, with no less fanfare and jubilation than we did before the SkyOne broadcast, we announce the reprise of the ...

'Keep the Gate Open' Challenge
Theme: "One Last Jaunt"

Your mission, should you chose to accept it (and we hope you will), is to write a fic on the given theme in 38 minutes or less. There is no word limit or word requirement -- in fact, given the time constraints, we're expecting many of them will be rather short. The point is to have fun and stretch your imaginations, so don't worry about the length, and don't worry about it being polished. Let the ideas flow!

This is your chance to wrap up the current season your way. There are a lot of loose threads dangling in the series right now -- how would you tie them up? Both speculation and fix-it fics are welcome. Post responses to the comm as their own entries (or to your journal and then post a link here so we can all enjoy). Remember to please cut and warn for spoilers and ratings, especially for 'Unending' spoilers until the episode broadcasts on June 22 and for, say, a week after that.

This time there is no deadline. The challenge never ends! Yes, there will be movies, but in a lot of ways it falls to fandom now to keep the gates open at the SGC, at the Alpha Site, and on all the worlds of the Milky Way Galaxy. If you can grab a spare 38 minutes to brainstorm a blowout last adventure leading into a happy future for the team and their friends and allies, please go for it!

The last round of the challenge generated two wonderful fics: Commencement by 6beforelunch and As Planned by Tallulah Rasa. Give them a read -- they're great. Then let's see if we can beat our total. A comm inundated with happily-ever-afters would make us very happy indeed. :-)
