This is possibly a weird question, but ... I'm wibbling on whether to sign up or not because I have practically no experience writing in the fandom, and I was wondering whether anyone could, er, well, if anyone around here has jumped into a fandom with a ficathon, and whether they/you would advise doing it.

I just don't want to disappoint.

It is a fun way to explore the fandom. I started a few years back in fic and read a lot of fic. I was really new to SG at that time too, so it was fun to try to find the "voice" of the characters.

It's fun, it's challenging... and you can always say in your sign-ups that you are new to fic in the fandom, and we (us mods) will try to help with finding maybe a gentle match for you.

If you're interested go for it! We'll put up a volunteer list so people could hopefully find a beta-reader or cheerleader if you're worried about that. Just be sure to be real specific when you write down what you can do, and only offer stuff you're comfortable with. : )
