Yesterday was the Queen's official birthday, and also the day we officially celebrated my youngest son's 21st. (His birthday was in the mid of final exams so we delayed the celebration

Lovely. But after all that, what's an old-fashioned and how do you make one?!

There are variations on a theme but basically an old-fashioned is made by putting a sugar cube in a glass, adding a dash of Angoustara bitters and a slice of orange, and then 'muddling' them together. Now add ice and whisky.

Pretty simple really (unless you work for TGIs in which case it takes three people to make it wrong).

We went to see X-men First class yesterday too, and it was very good. I really like that they set the story in the 60's. Such potential!
