Summary: Rod finds himself on familiar ground.
"About time you made it back," Sheppard said, barely looking up from his computer. "I figured out how to beam you back over shortly after you left, but we didn't have enough power to send it in our transmission. You seem to have done okay without me, though."
"The other me and his sister helped me figure it out, actually," McKay corrected.
Sheppard actually looked up at this. "What was it like over there? Lots of differences?"
McKay made a seesawing motion with his hand. "Little of this, little of that. Mostly the same, though their personalities were a bit weird. Oh, and they're under command of a civilian, Elizabeth Weir. I didn't get to talk to her much though."
"A civilian?"
McKay froze at the new voice. "Ah, yes General," he said hastily, back straightening almost subconsciously. "It seemed to work out rather well for them."
The general's eyebrow rose. "Miracles happen sometimes, I suppose," he conceded. "I expect to have your detailed report on my desk by 1900 tomorrow."
"Yes sir, I'll get on that right away," McKay promised.
The general turned to leave, but paused at the doorway. "Welcome back, doctor. It's been far too quiet here without you."
McKay grinned. "Thank you, General Jackson. It's good to be back."
