It's a cop thing. Unless you've spent a lot of time around them or have been one yourself, you wouldn't get it.

Okay, that sounded really jerkish of me and I didn't mean it to. Just...after spending fifteen years in law enforcement, I could appreciate the humor.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I too have some experience with law enforcement people (socially, not professionally). And yes, they can be silly and fucked up. But I thought this (the prank on the show) was over the top. If this is how it is in cop shops across the land, that is sad. A recent scandal in the LAFD showed that the way of life in the firehouse was/is completely effed up. And it cost millions to the city ( ... )

I have no desire to crap on your opinion. Or take a dump in your locker. (See, now, that would piss me off, too. LOL) But...I like a discussion so I'll just add that when you said...

No one that had my back pranked me. Know why? Because they knew me well enough that if you effed me over with some infantile shit, I would hold it against them, possibly forever. (Emphasis mine.)

...you made your own point. There are cops like that, too, that don't like it and see it as humiliation or abuse. So they weren't messed with. But I gotta say, they also didn't engender a lot of trust, because if backup from that individual depended on "towing the line" with them, it's not really dependable back up at all.

I think they knew Butch would take it just as it was intended, and I'm sure they're all watching their backs for return pranks, but I'm also pretty sure they know he's got their backs when it counts ( ... )
