'Saving Grace' Icons - Grace/Rhetta

I've been playing around with Virtual Dub and my trial version of Photoshop and trying to teach myself the basics of icon-making with the help of some online tutorials. I think my fumbling efforts actually turned out OK - they're nothing spectacular by any means and my concept of colouring involves altering the brightness/contrast LOL. Still, they' ( Read more... )

Thanks for the tips! There's no way I'm going to be able to afford the package once the trial period runs out, but if I ever purchase it in the future, I'll be sure to heed your advice! I held the shift key down while I was re-sizing the images after cropping them, as apparently that was supposed to prevent the image from becoming distorted and presumably ensure that the aspect ratio remained fixed. I don't think they look particularly squashed, but there's definitely room for improvement once I become more well-versed with the tools! I'll do some more research into that facet of the process. The sharpening tool will definitely come in handy, too! And yep, I did enjoy making the icons, although it was a lot more time consuming than I'd envisaged! I doubt I'll be making a habit of it LOL.

For example, take #003. There's a perfect space above Rhetta's head for a bubble. You could have her saying something about what a mess the inside of Grace's nose is or something.He he. Now, where's the romance in that? LOL. There are some very witty ( ... )

Ya know, I think I will cook me up some SG icons. I've been hogging my own icon work for many years. It's time to give!
