There's definitely going to be a season 3.
I have some idea of what it could be, though I don't know if they'll go there.

I really liked this season, but like you, I didn't care that much about Claire and her creepy boyfriend...

The actor who played her husband was in the show Agent Carter. A much nicer character and after episodes of Broadchurch yesterday I had to go on youtube just watch some clips of him on Agent Carter to get the character out of my head.
