Torch/Flashflight?

Okay, I know Americans use the term flashlight, the UK torch, but does anyone know what a Czech would call it? Thank you in advance. :)

In Swedish, they're called *ficklampa,* which means pocketlight. And that does you no good at all. :-)

You are are a writing *machine* lately. Wow. You get better with every story you post, and you were really good to start out. I am all kinds of admiring, here. *throws confetti and nekkid men at you*

*laughs* Well, if no one knows, I can always just put in random backstory how Radek was close friends with a Swede and got into the habit of saying pocketlight. ;-)

Ooh, nekkid men, yay! ...And the confetti too. *grins* A writing machine who can't seem to figure out how to finish fics, but yeah, I have been writing a bit. *laughs* Thank you. I love your writing, so praise from you is a wonderful compliment. :-)

In general, most Europeans learn their English from Brits. Although Radek doesn't use a particularly British accent or British terminology, so maybe he didn't. Grad school in the US? I'd guess Radek would use flashlight -- especially if he's used to requisitioning them from US Marines.

Oh yeah, Europeans do. *remembers the German exchange student senior year who used the term 'queer' to describe our teacher and then was confused when everyone stared laughing* But yeah, requisitioning them from the US Marines probably would get him into the habit of using the term flashlight.

Thank you! :)

If he smoked, I'm sure he learned not to use "fags" in a hurry, too!

*snickers* I never heard about that happening, but I'm sure he did. ;-)
