They should film that and show it every Christmas. I would have thought that translating Cordy into an athosian would be impossible, but with her "tact is just not saying true stuff. I'll pass" style, she came shining through. And you made me miss Wesley.

Nicely done.

I miss Wesley ALL THE TIME, missy. And so should everyone else!

And Cordy would totally fit in with the Athosians, except they would all be like, you are not serious enough, and she would want to go shopping for some contractions.

I owe you serious e-mail or something. Are you stationary, or on the move?

D'oh! The joys of typos. Will fix posthaste (or fix post, hastily, either way). Thank you!

Whee! I'm glad you like it -- and thanks for the deleted typo-catching, as well.

By the way, Ces told me like five miiiillion years ago to friend you for theory talk, and I completely forgot to, and now I have. Just so you know. *g*

oh my lord, this is *absolutely perfect* and makes me miss the show something awful. *siiigh*

"You know, I generally eat alone," Mal said.

HEEEEEEEEE pure undistilled angel, right there. *HEART* (although I have to say, the 'Mal' gave me a moment of confusion...Ah, fandom, soon you will run out of names!)

When the names synched up like that, I knew it was DESTINY!

I totally worked through my unhappiness with the last two seasons of Angel with this story. Well, I didn't work through it in terms of letting it go, but I got back to what it was I loved about these characters in the first place, and I want now to rewatch these episodes for the first time in yoinksm and that feels really good. I'm glad I could reawaken some dormant Angel-love in you as well!

And, heh, it's been a long time since I got to write peevish!Angel, and I forgot how much fun he is... lots of open brackets and threes, for sure.

I really like the approach you took to this. I admit I've been a little skeptical of the whole fusion idea, but this felt very natural. I fully expected Angel's team to just be transplanted wholesale into Atlantis, but this quietly builds their backgrounds and stays true to SGA while also finding the core parts of the Angel characters, making them recognizable yet not out of place. I think it's a good compromise. Thanks for sharing!

I'm glad you like it! I agree that if it's just a Mountie and a Chicago cop and a wolf on Atlantis, that doesn't work as well for me, though now writing that out I desperately want Dief to have the ATA gene somehow. But I digress. Still, there's a reason these characters resonate for us, and one reason is that they are, to one extent or another, archetypal, and it's fun to play with those archetypes and try to make them work in new contexts.

Dief would HATE Atlantis. Not enough junk food. But a Canadian soldier who'd found a wolf-like creature on his second away mission, hmmmm.

Speaking of Canadians, I feel bad for Torri Higginson every time she says something with really Canadian vowel sounds, because she has to play a USAnian! That seems unfair. I rationalize it by saying that Weir grew up in Buffalo, or Michigan's U.P., both places that are secretly Canadian.

Secret Canadians! Alternately, Rodney often doesn't sound Canadian ENOUGH.

Dief with the ATA gene would be fantastic. He'd get into all the food and create a lair for himself in one of the abandoned labs. He'd be so impossible. Fraser would completely give up on trying to encourage discipline in him. I wonder how Dief would get along with Sheppard. Sheppard seems like a dog person.

The idea of a Canadian soldier finding a wolf-like creature is so yummy. They'd bond! Save each other's lives! When they returned to Atlantis, Rodney would squeal in fear at the sight of the wolf-like creature, insist he was allergic and THEN find a new archenemy when it turns out the wolf likes junk food just as much as Rodney does. See, I'm bad at this game because SGA is still new to me and I want to play with all my SGA people rather than with the new fusion people.

I'm sorry, I can't answer this post, because I am completely distracted by what Joe Flanigan is doing with his neck there.

Brilliant! You did a wonderful job of translating the characters from Angel to SGA and still keeping their individual voices intact. Really fun.
