Lily pulled on her jacket and exited her quarters. Time for breakfast. She came around the corner and nearly slammed into a woman with blood dripping from her hand.
"Sorry," she apologized, "Hey, do you need any help?"
There were two reasons why she was asking. One, she was just being a good citizen of Atlantis. Two, she really didn't know this person. Frankly, she didn't know her name.
Kip staggered backwards a few steps, regaining her composure quickly enough. "Ah... I mean, I'm just going down the the infirmary..." The 5' tall scientist rolled up on the balls of her feet and craned her neck to look over the officer's shoulder and down the hall. "...I think...?"
Rolling back down to her feet, she flushed with embarrassment; she hated being the greenhorn. She became even more flustered when she realized she was still in pajamas. "I'm not quite sure I know my way around yet." She cast her gray eyes downward with a sheepish look.
She smiled as she walked with the soldier. "Yeah, I'm a molecular biologist. Apparently I've been mapping the Ancient gene, thinking it was an evolutionary anomaly." She gripped her hand tighter around the surrogate bandage and held out her uninjured hand. "Kip, Dr. Kip Turner," she introduced herself with a smile.

She paused, "You're a scientist, right? What field are you?" she bit her lip, she did need a scientist on her team.
