"Oh what pain is caused when at first you don't wear saftey gear...." Muttered Gene to himself as he rushed to the infirmary, blood starting to run down the side of his face as well as his arm. He had been 'playing' with some more of the major ancient technology, like he wasn't supposed to. And it had 'attacked' him, as he prefered to phrase such instances. He had his arm wrapped in his shirt, his hand holding a tissue to his head to keep the blood from his eyes.
"Hey, Keller! You might want to get your band-aides in a bunch and help out here!"
Jennifer heard Gene yell at her from the other room and she raced in there on the alert. Blood was dripping from his face and his arm.
"Bed," she ordered pointing to the nearest one and went to the cabinet for antibiotics and a medical kit, "What did you do to yourself, Gene? Ancient technology?"
It was kind of easy to guess how most people got injured in Atlantis.
Gene didn't need told twice. He took to the bed with out arguement, pulling the tissue from his head to see how red it was. Ah, not too red. By his standards anyways.
"No. I was stupid enough to piss Ronon off. Yes. Ancient technology. I was *ucking with something big in one of the more remote rooms. Got caught in a few things, and well, tada." He motioned to his arm. "The head-wounds from trying to do a fancy move to get out of the crawl-space. Whacked it good... No cutting the hair either, sweetheart."
"It's not necessary," Jennifer answered. Jennifer then opened the bottle of antiseptic and she scrubbed the antibiotics onto his wounds and asked, "Does it sting?"
"Hey, your eyes stuck or something?" The comment escaped Gene almost like a habit as he caught some of the stares. He wasn't suprised though. A girl like Jennifer walking on the arm of a guy like him. Then again, it was odd to see Gene with anyone who wasn't trying to cause him bodily harm. 'Liked' wasn't a word that many would use to describe him.
On the upside, it was a much needed and very good change.
"So, Gene," Jennifer glanced over at him, "what Ancient tech were you working on?"
Most scientists treasured their work and Jennifer was truly interested. She wanted to know what had given him those injuries. She could say that it was being a doctor before a person, but she actually cared.
"Hm?" Gene turned his eyes from shooting glares at people to her, brows raised. "Oh! Not quite sure. I think it's some sort of super computer, or maybe even something of medical use. I was kind of... in it, trying to figure that out. Can't exactly activate it..."
His nose scrunched up at his last words. Not having the ancient gene drove him nuts. His mind was there, able to use the technology, but he was missing the gene to actually activate any of it. To him, it was the biggest frustration of his life.
Jennifer could see Gene's disappointed and frustrated look and nodded, "I know how you feel. I don't have the gene either. Looks like we have something in common."
She sometimes envied Colonel Sheppard and Doctor McKay because they could use the technology at ease. It would be less difficult for her if she had access to those advantages naturally as well.
