Even with people watching, Gene stood his ground, looking her back in the eye. His mind was made up, and he was too stubborn to back down.
"I did." He gritted his teeth,"I'm not letting you do it either. If something happened to you, I wouldn't even know where to start looking to get you back! You might not have a way, but you'd at least be able to find one! I'm not f-... I'm not backing down either!"
It was taking all he had not to swear, what was suprising was the fact that he actually was trying not to. It almost bothered him; he was getting easily upset over this.
Gene's arms fell as he cooled down as well. He nodded, moving to give her a hug.
"Thank you, Jennifer." He muttered, feeling better since it was all over. He released her to give her a grin. "I'm tough, it'll take a lot for anything to kill me. Promise."
He gave her a wink as he offered forward his arm again. She had caved, and he would be gracious on his end.
With a bit of a chuckle, he grinned, eyes twinkling. "You trust me? Wow. It's been ages since I heard that."
He started to again move along at his own mellow pace, eyes, looking at what lay ahead, not behind. He was oddly comfortable. He found no need to keep any protective sheilds up around her.

She took his arm, very relieved that he wasn't angry at her anymore. He was a very nice guy when he wasn't aggravated.
