I'm so sorry to hear that your mum has gotten so bad.
As to how to raise money, maybe you could try having a fandom auction where people can offer to make anything fandom related and then people make bids. Of course this wouldn't raise all of the amount but I'm sure you have many friends on line who would be willing to participate. It is just one of the ways you could raise some money.
A friend of a friend just passed away unexpectedly. Her sister is raising money to pay for the funeral with gofundme.com. I think it's pretty simple to use.
Sorry to hear about your mom, hon. Not easy at all.
Yeah, I checked them out; their take is like 5%, which isn't horrible, but it's still more than most, so I'm looking at gogetfunding.com right now unless I find a better one.
It's really just one more thing. I don't think it's sunk in, yet. Or I'm in repressive panic mode. But, yeah, I'm not thinking about the final result, just the steps I can take.
Oh, bb. Sorry seems so inadequate, it but I'm still so, so sorry that your mom is so sick, and that you're the one who's got to figure things out.
I don't really have much in the way of new ideas, but I'd be willing to pimp like mad/help you organize things if you do end up going with a fandom auction. I know they tend to be for countries affected by natural disasters, but I have in fact seen personal fandom auctions - there was one a while back that was for a family facing foreclosure. I wasn't able to participate myself, but I know that it was getting a lot of attention. So maybe don't rule out the auction idea entirely?
Whatever you decide to do, I'll help out as much as I can.
People keep telling me sorry, and I get it, I do, but it's just...it's just a word. And that's not to make people feel bad, but at this point, if sorrys were dimes, we wouldn't need to raise money, lol. IDK. I'm dealing with so much, I'm to the point where I appreciate it, but I pretty much brush it off. /rant
Yep, I'm trying to figure out a name right now and how to organize it and stuff. But thank you bb, I really do appreciate it. I'm gonna be taking advantage of my very talented and very awesome flist however I do it.
*hugs* I can't personally donate money, but if you set up a fandom auction I'll definitely get involved and auction off a vid or two (or as many as I think I can manage) for the cause. I'll keep an eye on your LJ for any news regarding an auction development.
My thoughts are with you, your family, and especially your mother. Take care.
Thanks bb. I know how that goes; honestly anything can help. *hugs* I'm gonna try to set it up this week, so, yeah, we'll see. I'll keep everyone updated.
