When my Joseph was 9 or 10 or so, he was down the street at the HUD apartments playing tag football when one of the boys got mad and punched him in the temple.  I was furious, injuries to the temple can kill, and called the police who went to talk to the boy who was home alone at too young of an age.  They then talked to the mother when she got

Yeah, I apologized to the cop for calling them, told him I didn't know what I thought he could do. He assured me I did the right thing and that they now had him on their radar and if anything else happened they would have a file to refer to. I guess his blip fell off the screen. I cannot tell you how this breaks my heart. The news did say, however, Johnathan is still alive as of this morning so he has gotten through more than the first 24 hours which I understand to be the most critical.

ughhhh thats awful. I have never known of anyone who starts crack and their life ends up ok.
Chris was a DSC investigator so I knwo way more than i wish i did but what proably happened is the mom checked out once and no one ever called about her again.
its sad.
