Good morning lovelies! I've been lurking around in sgoverseas, but I've decided to come out and introduce myself. I'm currently on exchange at Uppsala University, Sweden. I've been here since August 2006, and I will return to Singapore at the end of June this year ( Read more... )

hej...

it's the warmest vinter ever due to globalwarming. can you imagine what it'll be like before? one of my friends was walking to lund uni after a shower and he arrived on campus with ice in his hair.

i'm no fan of the chilling cold though the snow can be nice. have you been to malmö and helsingborg?
it was quite comical for me witnessing the large number of swedes cross over from helsingborg to helsingør to purchase tons of alcohol.

hej hej!

thanks to global warming it only started snowing in january. so we didn't even get a white christmas :(

i've not been to malmo and helsingborg, but i've taken the cruise to helsinki where everyone piles up on tons of alcohol because its duty free. all the swedes come back with cartons of booze. heh. i just go for the shopping - all prices are 25% off without the crazy tax.

you are awake at this time too!

haa i'm awake because i'm in adelaide. it was 2pm here when i posted that comment. can't remember if it's sweden or denmark but there's udsalg everywhere. mango is cheaper over there as compared to sg. H&M is awesome lol.

yeah snowing now is extremely late. i recalled having to fight my way through snowstorms...which wasn't exactly fun.

I love H&M! I bought a black corduroy jacket today for 6 sing dollars. Mango is alot cheaper, but the cost of living is so high here!

Snowstorms are awful, and I had to walk 1 hour in the snow for my last exam. It was terrible.

woah, the place looks beautiful!!

My uni has an exchange agreement with Uppsala as well, but I didn't dare to apply because I was afraid of the language barrier. *heart twinge*

LOL!

So tell me, how do the Swedish pronounce IKEA?

I-KE-A or E-KE-A ? *curious*

hello!

most of the swedes speak english, and my courses are in english, so there is no problem communicating. unless of course you dine in a restaurant, and you have to randomly point to a dish because it's all in swedish!

:)

Swedes pronounce IKEA as "ee-kay-uh." hurhur. do you know that the colours of IKEA are the same colours as their national flag (yellow and blue)? so patriotic.

seee..! That is what I try to tell everyone. But regardless whether I'm in Australia or Canada, they all try to correct me and say it's "I-KE-A". :-p

The Swedish winter is looking so much better than the Canadian winter I'm getting right now. (I'm on exchange in Canada!:P)

Uppsala rocks! I love the bicycle graveyard by the trainstation, not something you'd see every(or any)day in S'pore.

P/S: Is there a shop there now called "Ganeshi" or something?

The graveyard is so peaceful, and the scenery is fantastic. I don't miss Singapore at all :)

I have no idea, but what does it sell? I know the shops by what they sell. Did you study at Uppsala?

I'm not exactly sure what they sell, but I think stuff & goodies from Thailand. The shop owner should be a pretty Thai girl with a shoe fetish. =)

I met her in Stockholm while on holiday, & found out she was working at a sushi shop. So with that info, I took a train by meself to Uppsala to loko for the Thai girl working at a sushi shop in the University town. It was quite an adventure, & I found her eventually. So yeah, thats how I came about the town of Uppsala. =P
