Bush said it showed Saddam was a threat because he was trying to undermine international sanctions "with the intent of restarting his weapons program once the world looked away."
So, they release the report showing there were no WMD's, and Bush's response is that they went in because Iraq had the INTENT of restarting his program once the U.N. ( Read more... )

I actually had one of my Republican friends chide me because I posted a link to the report on Friendster. I think her words were basically the same as Bush's comment. I emailed her back asking when we're planning to invade Iran, N.Korea, Libya, Bosnia, Pakistan, India, China etc. And I told her it might be a good idea to order pre-emptive attacks on Germany, Japan, England, Mexico and Russia because eachc one of these countries have a history of attacking the US. What it comes down to is, when people prefer to have their minds made up for them by the politicians and pundits, not even the most glaring evidence to the contrary is going to matter one little bit. Independent thought is barely a comprehensible concept to these people.
