So 2 weeks from this weekend, a friend and I have made plans to do some quarrying in a semiprecious stone quarry and I definitely look forward to that

Remember to bring extra water to sploosh on things. Otherwise you're going to be licking a lot of rocks.

A spray bottle'd probably make it last longer too, actually.

Hmm well I was thinking maybe take a small bucket (with water) to have close by to dip the rocks in and clean them off.

Aww yeah, I haven't done it often but I do like quarrying. There was a neat (hurtz?) diamond mine and also a sapphire bed. The sapphires I was actually able to *find* stuff because you could pay for a bucket that was dug up and pick through it for sapphires - and there were usually a few. (the two mines were not in the same place, of course.

Bwhehehe! So far, I know of a ruby quarry in NC, an amethyst quarry in GA and most likely others as well in the surrounding area/states.
