Dizzy...

After setting up the trap for Astarte (and getting the hell out of there before she showed up), Chuck found his way back to his quarters. Jonny had said to go back to his post, but he was off duty, and he was *really* tired - the long day was starting to catch up with him, the incident with the Marines having been pushed back to ancient history ( Read more... )

Jonny first checked the control room, but was told that Chuck was off duty--seems everyone knew he and Chuck were together...and was it his imagination, or did the marines in the room seem especially nervous to see him?--so he headed down to Chuck's room. The door opens for him before he can hit the chime and Jonny silently thanks the city. Especially when he sees Chuck fast asleep.

Smiling in fond amusement, Jonny carefully removes Chuck's shoes and wrangled his lover under the covers. He sat on the edge of the bed beside Chuck, pulling one leg up to rest his chin on his knee. Wrapping his arms around his leg, he watched Chuck sleep. He could see the edges of a bruise forming along Chuck's hairline and it made Jonny frown. Chuck needed to see Beckett soon. Letting him rest a bit wouldn't hurt, though.

Chuck whimpered in his sleep as Jonny moved him, but didn't even come close to waking up.

Jonny sat by Chuck's bedside for several hours before he finally decided it couldn't wait any longer. He didn't want to, but he reached out a hand and gently caressed Chuck's face. His voice was soft when he called out. "Chuck. Sweetheart, you need to get up."

Chuck's head rolled slightly away from Jonny's touch. "Nrg." He didn't stir beyond that.

The infirmary responds, Dr. Chandrapurna is also on duty. "We'll have a team there straight away, Sir."

It's only a few moments later when the medics and the gurney arrive to rush Chuck back the way they came.

Jonny follows the med team then paces the infirmary worriedly, kicking himself for not following Chuck and insisting he went to the infirmary after the trap. Or even before the trap.

Dr. Chandrapurna comes out after about 30 minutes.

"Mr. O'Neil? I'm afraid Sgt. Lenoir has a pretty bad concussion. We've given him some meds to help reduce swelling and there doesn't seem to be any intracranial bleed, but he should stay here for observation at least overnight You can see him for a few moments, but that's all. He needs to rest. And he may not be totally lucid."

Jonny nods, not really hearing anything past "bad concussion". He hesitantly walks over to Chuck's bed and looks down at his lover.

"Hey. They say you'll be okay, but gotta stay overnight. You had me worried, sweetheart. And here I thought I left behind the trouble-prone boyfriends when I was split." He takes Chucks hand in his and smiles weakly. "Get better, okay? I'm already reconsidering how light I let those marines go. I'll wait until you're up and about before I really punish them, though. It should be amusing watching Ronon kick their asses."

Jonny stays with Chuck until the nurse kicks him out then spends several hours pacing the hall outside the infirmary.
