Magnifecent thing to see a fully-armored Spartan sitting on the edge of his base, morning light illuminating his sihouette, staring out into yonder hills

And somewhere across the canyon, the sound of a tank's engine started up, as Simmons finished his calibrations and re-engineering of the Scorpion's systems. Still felt strange. Time to go for a spin, maybe?
Staring at your own feet as you walked only got to be so exciting. Sarge blinked upwards when he simultaneously heard and FELT a BIG THING coming at him, and he was pleasantly surprised to see it was a tank. Letting out a quick whistle and a wave, Sarge tried to get its attention.
"Shiela! Hey Shiela, what're you doin' out and about today?"
Simmons still hadn't quite mastered the tank's controls as he drove towards the red end of the canyon. Theory was one thing, he had that down no problem, but in practice? He hadn't really intended to end up over there, but at least he figured he'd have the firepower if anything happened...
He was almost too distracted by working out what was what to spot the figure in red armour. Just in time, he remembered to hit the brake and pulled the tank to a halt. Oh, hell. But why is he yelling for... oh, yeah.
It took a few tense moments before he decided to flip the tank's hatch and look out. "Uh... hi, sir."
"Nah, I couldn't forget you, sir," Simmons said with a shrug and a slight chuckle. "Wouldn't forget you even if we were half-way across the galaxy, never mind half a klick." So easy to fall back into the old ways of speaking already, to forget what was what. "And, um, good to know you hadn't forgotten about me too."
"Yeah, yeah..." Sarge bit his tongue, staring at the ground as long seconds passed. Shadows shifted and the breeze stopped.
"So, what do they have you doin' over there!" He tried, not sure what to say now. "I guess they don't exactly have a sarge over there, heheh...heh. Takin' Shiela on a date here or somethin'?" Levin chuckled and rest his hands on his hips, his tone considerably joking.
"Eheh..." Simmons made a slightly choked noise. "No, not on a date at the moment. Heh." He laughed, trying to put over that everything was fine, that Sarge hadn't just stumbled onto something. " Actually, uh," he paused, trying to work out a way to describe everything that'd happened, "Sheila is back at the base. I got her out of here." He tapped the tank's side. "I'm pretty much acting engineer over there. Which isn't quite what I was expecting, but at least it's something..." His voice wasn't quite as level as he'd hope. "Y'know?"
Sarge took a moment to mull that one over and figure out what Simmons had just said.
"Oh! You pulled her harddrive out? Ouch... Was she acting up or something? Hoh, engineer, eh? Prolly got you doin' a lot more over there than I had you doin' over here, huh? Crazy Blues- er... no offense."
