You're post couldn't have had more coincidental timing. Sunday night, or at least that's when I heard, my grandfather on my mother's side passed away. At 90 years old, he was an amazing man, and really, he passed away at the time when he was embarking on a downward slope. Even though I was closer to him than my grandparents on my father's side, I still wasn't nearly as sad as my mother, who is currently with my other family in India. Aside from feeling sad because such a person had passed on, I also felt bad for my mother, because she was very close to him, and I can only imagine how difficult it must be to lose someone that influential. All of me dreads the day that I'll have to experience the same thing

Losing a grandparent is hard Nick. My grandfather died three years ago and his ghost is still there haunting our family. We've gone through a lot of hurt and it's changed me. I've lost a lot and grown more bitter. I lost a friend and a dream died when he did. I thought I finally was able to say goodbye when the camp was taken from us in April and I went up there - but he still lingers. I have seen him in dreams.
My grandfather died when I was in sixth grade, and I was really close to him, so I do know what it's like to lose someone so close... like I said, I was never very close to my grandmother on my dad's side, but it will still be sad nonetheless.
*hug* I've been there too, my grandfather died senior year, and what's worse, the night before, I threw a party and the next morning I found out when I was cleaning up...for some reason I couldn't help but feel guilty :( but he was also in a lot of pain so this was definitely better than what was happening to him before he died...give your dad a hug for me :)
and as for your mom, my sister just went under the knife for maaaajor surgery over the summer, there was a tumor on her liver and thankfully it was operable and everything turned out fine, though she's still a little weak from it and still kind of "recovering"...but yeah, everything will be ok :)
