Know what's really sad? A tree can spend decades growing. It can be older than me and you. Hell, it can be older than both of us combined. Then, in one night, it gets blown over by the wind and that's it. No more tree. No more springs, no more summers, and no more falls. In one night it will just stop existing. Oh, we say, look at that. I don't think it's quite as sad because they don't spend the same amount of energy resisting or trying to push themselves up again. They fall back into the earth where they came from- regardless if it's because of epic winds or just being old and fragile.
But I do think their histories are ignored. Dad said a tree with two initials inside a heart engraved in it was moved out of his street.

About what you were saying, a tree kind of symbolizes anything... even a human. I like the way you said the tree won't see anymore summers, springs, or falls... it really hit me. (yeah totally not sarcastic, that's just my hippie-ism kicking in)

i meant to say that the tree story symbolized the human life cycle... not just a human. whatever, I can't really make that make sense.
